Acrobat Connect Pro

We are offering a license for a limited time to try web conferencing and collaboration. The software will allow you to share documents as well as video, audio and text conference with up to 100 people at the same time. For more information on Adobe Connect, visit the OIT Site.

Flip Video

This small, easy to use camera takes remarkably good video and comes with built-in software making it simple to edit and upload your video to YouTube.

These are available as a grant or on a loan basis via the Link on a first come first served basis.

Headset - Logitech ClearChat USB

A must have for web conferencing, these lightweight headphones and microphone combination can be used with screen capture or video editing software as well to record narration.

A number of fifth generation ipods are still available for loan on a first come first served basis.

An iPod Touch is an iPhone without the phone. We will have a limited number of these mobile media and web browser devices to try this new form factor of media delivery.

Polycom Desktop Video Conferencing Software

This desktop software (Windows only) allows you to connect your PC to a professional Polycom video conferencing system or connect to another user using the software. It offers very high quality audio and video conferencing with limited collaboration features as compared with Adobe Connect.

Quicktime Pro

The "Pro" upgrade to Apple's QuickTime software will allow you to do simple editing (cuts only) of your video as well as provide you with a simple to use video recorder to use with your webcam or video camera. You can also convert your video to other sizes and formats - like iPod or web.

Screen Capture Software

Using Camtasia (Windows) or SnapZ Pro you will be able to make "screen movies" of anything and everything that is displayed on your computer's screen. You can add narration to that movie or add audio narration to PowerPoint slide presentations.

Tablet PC - Dell Latitude XT

A limited number of tablet PCs are available for loan as this program transitions into operational status.

Video Recording Kit: High Definition

A complete kit consisting of a Macintosh Laptop with iMovie HD and a SONY HDR-SR10 Hard Disk Based Camcorder will let you experiment capturing greater detail and higher quality than ever before without using video tape.

Video Recorder: Standard Definition - DV Tape Based

We have 100 DV based camcorders in our current pool of loaners to allow you to experiment with video capture. Cameras not reserved for course projects are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Link.

Applications for faculty to reserve these kits for Fall 2008 course projects are due by 5 pm on Friday, September 12.

Video Recorder: Standard Definition - Hard Drive Tapeless

We are adding (10) Canon FS11 Hard Disk based camcorders to our current pool of loaners to allow you to experiment with tapeless video capture.

VoiceThread

VoiceThread is a Web-based tool that allows you to upload images, audio and video and then add commentary in the form of an audio recording, video recording or hand-written annotation. You can make your media materials available to a selected group or a class so that everyone can participate and play back the commentary of others.

Webcam: Logitech QuickCam Pro For Notebooks

Even if you have a built in webcam, the Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks can be used to capture groups of people by clipping it to the front of your notebook facing out or by using the included stand. If you want to use the stand, don't forget to ask for or get a USB extension cable!

Web collaboration and/or portable recording kit

Consisting of a Macintosh laptop or a Windows PC laptop, a webcam, headset, QuickTime Pro software and your option of an Adobe Connect or Polycom Video Conferencing software, this kit is everything you need to record content or experiment with web collaboaration, video conferencing or video streaming.

Wimba Voice Tools

Wimba Voice tools can be used within a Blackboard course to allow built-in audio recording by instructors and students. All you need is a microphone and a Java-enabled Web browser, and you're ready to make an audio recording! There are seven different tools an instructor can set up from within the Blackboard course control panel to add voice discussion boards, voice e-mail, voice podcasting and more.
